Report - National Resource Council Article

Exploring the gouging abrasion resistance of materials for oil sands services.

Past evaluation studies of materials for oil sands services have focused on low and high stress abrasion and slurry erosion resistance mechanisms.

This article from the National Resource Council offers a different focus. It will:

  • Assess material properties for mitigating the additional wear mechanism that comes with the increasing use of crusher systems
  • Reveal the results of jaw crusher abrasion tests using a modified ASTM G81 procedure
  • Wear materials of interest include: Q&T plate steels, austenitic manganese steel, chromium and chromium molybdenum white irons as plain castings and in laminated forms and also chromium carbide and tungsten carbide overlaid wear plates
