Where Innovation Lives

Chrome White Iron and Steel Bi-Metallic Trunnion Discharge Liner

Posted by Penticton Foundry on May 13, 2015

A customer had increased the size and volume of the media flowing in the fully autogenous milling circuit.  This created some very specific challenges, particularly because the trunnion discharge liner, which had been made of rubber, was now lasting 6 weeks rather than the 1 ½ years it had previously.  The customer approached us looking for a solution to their wear problem.

Because of installation challenges the original design was not conducive to solid chrome white iron.

Penticton Foundry’s solution was to design a chrome white iron and steel bi-metallic trunnion liner, which was installed in the summer of 2014 and is still in service today.  We coordinated our delivery schedule with a shut down to minimize downtime and logistical concerns.  We also made on-site technical support available during installation to assist in overcoming any challenges that might present themselves.
